Gold in Them Thar… Vending Machines?

You can get Coke, bottled water, sandwiches, even toiletries from vending machines, but… GOLD?

A German company has a machine in the works that will dispense gold by the gram in gift boxes, starting at 1 gram for about $42 U.S. The first machines will be tested in that country over a three-month period, and if successful, rolled out to Asia, the Middle East, Great Britain, and the U. S.

But robbers shouldn’t even considered robbing the machines… they’re booby-trapped with dynamite.

Only in Florida…

Two Daytona men were arrested for suspicion of bank robbery when the getaway car they were driving ran out of gas.

They went their separate ways, but left the car, which was immediately traced back to the owner who was one of the robbers.

Moral of the story… ALWAYS have enough gas if you decide to rob a bank.

And never use your own car.

Sheesh.

A Casper, Wyoming man’s best friend, Tanker Truck (an 11-month old black Lab) was bitten on the nose by a rattlesnake on May 15.  Normally, this would kill a dog, but it so happened that his owner was dog’s best friend.  He grabbed the dog and sucked the poison out of Tank’s nose.

“It was 20 minutes to town and I knew he would not make it. So I grabbed his nose and started sucking the rattlesnake poison out of the top of  his nose and spit it on the ground.” Jenkins said in a Casper Star-Tribune news article.

The man, Bobby Jenkins, called his mother thereafter and had her race to the Vet for some anti-venom, and the dog was saved.

Yet, when Jenkins’ mother saw her son turning white, they rushed him to the ER, and had to pony up $14,000 per vial for 4 vials of anti-venom at $3,500 each — for him. A nurse told Jenkins that sucking out the venom was the wrong thing to do…  (Nurse Obvious.)

Happily, both Jenkins and his dog are now doing fine.

It’s not mentioned whether or not the toilet nor the tooth survived the incident, but the woman is apparently fine.

Sun Causes House Fire

dog1A Bellvue, WA house sustained $215,000 in damages when a dog’s glass water dish (with water in it) channeled enough heat from sunlight to start a blaze on a wooden deck at the back of the house.

Moral of the story… use metal or plastic for the family pooch. Glass + sun = fire danger.  As it happens, the glass acted as a magnifier, which caused the flames.

Who’d have thunk it?

A Canadian woman was busted for not holding the railing of an escalator in Quebec, Montreal yesterday.  The police officer involved cautioned the woman, who did not obey, and was summarily handcuffed and detained for non-compliance.

This wasn’t a blatant act of civil disobedience, either. She was just trying to find change for the bus in her backpack when the incident occured.

So, when in Quebec… be careful… Apparently, this officer had nothing better to do.

Guess there’s no crime in Quebec. How lovely!

pagoda sunset silhoutteYou aren’t going to believe this, but it’s true.  The Chinese are constructing a “sex park” in Chongquing. They worry that the topic of sex is so taboo in China that peole need a way to find out healthy ways to indulge.

Unreal.

If the Chinese people are this under educated about sex, why are there more than a billion people there? How in the world did that happen? Alien abduction? Makes no sense.

But it’s true… reported by UPI, May 15, 2009.

May 18: As an epilogue, the park was demolished over the weekend, according to the Associated Press. Apparently, the Chinese had it all figured out.  Who didn’t know that?

On May 13, 2009 the Associated Press reported that in San Jose, Ca. a group of office workers were cleaning a very nasty refrigerator when some succumbed to the fumes created by the noxious food. They called 911.

That wasn’t all…

The whole building had to be evacuated and the HAZMAT team was called in to complete the dirty work. Yikes!

28 people had to be treated for nausea and vomiting.

Hmm… When was the last time you cleaned out your fridge?

If you want to get high… move to Barcelona, Spain where the air is laced with…

Cocaine!

In a Metro.co.uk story, titled “Air in Spain is Laced with Cocaine” (May 14, 2009), it is reported that not only coke, but  “amphetamines, opiates, cannabinoids and lysergic acid, a relative of LSD” lace the air.

The drawback all you hopeful is that you’d not get enough of that air to get you high in a thousand years. Hmm…

Thinking there must be a better way, eh?
